Detective Sturgis requests Delaware's aid in solving two seemingly unrelated crimes: the strangulation of an artist at a gallery opening and the stabbing of a blues musician after a late-night set. The only connection appears to be that both were struggling artists trying to stage a comeback. Then three more killings occur: a concert pianist, a ballet star, and a punk rock singer--again, all on the verge of reviving their careers.
