Ned Cody, a young city sheriff who practices his shooting once in a while and usually misses whatever he shoots at, receives a telegram that notorious killer, John Tenkiller is heading toward his little town. His only deputy is big and tough, but he can be out of control when he drinks too much. The country sheriff is more interested in extorting protection money from the businesses than in helping Cody and the town against a bloodthirsty killer.
